Mental Health Week 2008: Participate '08

The Mental Health Council of Tasmania (MHCT) is encouraging organisations to get involved and hold an event during Mental Health Week (MHW). This year’s theme is Participate ’08 and this health promotion week encourages people to participate in looking after their own mental health and wellbeing and the mental health of the Tasmanian community. Many AOD service providers interact with people who also experience, or are at increased risk of mental health issues.

A range of events will be taking place throughout the state including:

  • Coinciding with the official launch of MHW 2008, the Southern region is hosting an expo at the Botanical Gardens on Tuesday, October 7. The expo will showcase a range of different service providers and activities from yoga to treatment services. For more information about participating clickhere. Please note: applications to participate in the expo close 5 September.
  • The Northern region will be holding a forum on Friday, October 10, aimed at increasing community awareness of mental health and wellbeing.
  • In the North West, there will be the launch of a community choir, Vox Populi (Voice of the People) on Wednesday, October 8.

For further information about Mental Health Week, please contact MHCT on 03 6224 9222 or email policy@mhct.org. Details about events in each region are available at www.mhct.org.
