NW-RADS ATOD Counsellor/Educator

Fixed Term Full Time October 2014 – 30th June 2015

Youth, Family & Community Connections Inc. is a North-West based Not-For-Profit Community Organisation that facilitates a range of services designed to support and assist youth, families and individuals to develop knowledge and skills to enable them to participate within the community. The Alcohol Tobacco and other Drugs (ATOD) Services provide, assessment, brief intervention, counselling, information, referral and education to people who use ATODs, and/or their significant others and the community.

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drug Counsellor/Educator in the North West Regional Alcohol & Drug Service (NW-RADS) .This position will be based in Burnie and work across the Central Coast, Burnie, Waratah Wynyard, Circular Head, West Coast and King Island Municipalities.

The position involves working to improve the health, social and family functioning of individuals and families who may be experiencing problems associated with substance misuse, enabling them to reach their full capacity and participate positively in their community by providing specialist outreach ATOD including :

  • Assessment,
  • Counselling,
  • Supported Referral,
  • Group work & education
  • Targeted health promotion activities.
  • Collaborative working relationships with other services.

Remuneration will be in accordance with of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 commencing at SACS Level 5.
