Dear Members,
This year the ATDC Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, 22 September 2021 (more information will be forthcoming regarding the time and location of this meeting).
The ATDC is governed by a skills-based Board of Directors (the list of current Directors can be viewed here). This year, Elected Directors Shirleyann Varney (The Drug Education Network) and Raylene Foster (Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre) will be completing their current two-year terms on the ATDC Board. Shirleyann has confirmed that she will be seeking re-election. Raylene has confirmed that she will be stepping down at the AGM.
Any member of the ATDC is eligible to submit an expression of interest for these two Elected Director roles.
If you are interested, and have knowledge, skills or experience in one of more of the following areas I encourage you to get in contact with me (details below).
- Alcohol, tobacco and other drug primary prevention and early intervention services and programs
- Government relations
- Marketing and communications
The ATDC is committed to increasing the diversity of its Board of Governance, and welcomes nominations from individuals who may identify as culturally or linguistically diverse or as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. We particularly welcome nominations from individuals living outside southern Tasmania (north and/or north-west Tasmania). If this sounds like you, and you also have a lived experience of alcohol, tobacco or other drugs use we encourage you to apply.
Not-for-profit governance experience is preferred but the ATDC will consider applications from individuals who have no prior Board experience.
Elected Directors are appointed to two-year terms and each position is voluntary. There is no remuneration but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every second month, and generally last for two hours (and can be accessed remotely). Board Directors may also be invited to attend additional board development meetings as required.
Want more information? I can be contacted on 0409 285 340 or via email at mvcliffside@gmail.com. If you wish to nominate, please submit a summary of your background and experience (no more than two A4 pages) and a copy of your CV to admin@atdc.org.au by Friday, 30 July 2021.
ATDC Life Membership: Members are also invited to nominate individuals for life membership to the ATDC to recognise outstanding service over a considerable period of time to the Tasmanian alcohol, tobacco and other drugs sector. Nominations can be submitted through the ATDC website. We know that there are a number of individuals working in our sector who would be worthy of recognition with life membership, and we would love to see them nominated.
Regards,
Michael Voumard
Chair – Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs Council of Tasmania
