As a clinician, do you know whether your client’s behaviour is driven by a cognitive impairment?
What if it is? Would you change your approach?
And if not, would you then change your expectations of what the client can achieve, and what behaviour you should expect?
With over 40% of people in drug treatment having challenges with memory, attention, and thinking skills, often undiagnosed, it is an absolute no-brainer that we look at how this impacts client outcomes. And that is exactly what Anglicare Tasmania, The Salvation Army, Holyoake, Pathways Tasmania, and Launceston City Mission intend to do.
The ACE program has been shown to significantly improve treatment completion rates and the ability of our sector to identify individuals at risk of having a cognitive impairment, identify the functional domain where there is a challenge, and then provide interventions that will enhance cognition and improve overall functioning.
Excited?
We sure are!
