The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has been contracted by Primary Health Tasmania to deliver seasonal influenza vaccinations to people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, across the North of the state, including North-West and North-East.
2022 vaccination services can be delivered from the 1st June – 31st October 2022.
Vaccinations are administered by accredited pharmacist immunisers, who are highly skilled and experienced health care professionals and are approved by the Tasmanian Department of Health to administer seasonal influenza vaccines to anyone aged between 10 – 64.
All vaccinations are recorded to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) as required under federal legislation.
The seasonal influenza vaccination program can be delivered through on-site clinics at the premises of participating organisations, or through the Guild’s community pharmacy member network.
On-site vaccination clinics (Preferred program for maximum coverage)
Based on the program results in 2021, the Guild believes the most effective way to achieve a high level of vaccination amongst the people at risk cohort, is to provide on-site clinics at a range of locations that coincide with specific events or services that your organisation is running.
The Guild can provide services to your clients onsite or at a location deemed suitable. If you have a weekly meal service or drop in day, a pharmacist immuniser can attend for a three hour window and provide vaccinations at this time. The Guild can work with you to determine a suitable date and time, including evenings if required.
In pharmacy vaccination service (Flexible for individual clients)
Your organisation’s staff can also easily book an immunisation service online for individual clients in a community pharmacy in your area using a unique URL and QR code which will be provided.
Please contact Philip Mione at the Guild via email at Philip.mione@guild.org.au or mobile on 0438 481 233 to discuss your preferences and to organise your services, as well as answer any enquiries you may have.
Remember influenza can be a serious illness, and although over the past 12 months we have had low reported rates of influenza in our community, now with borders open and the recommencement of international travel, we know the 2022 influenza season is going to have a significant impact on our communities!
Immunisation is the best defence against influenza infection.
