Many of you working in our sector may remember the media coverage of Claire Murray, a young Western Australian woman who was refused a second liver transplant in 2009 due to her history of illicit drug use. Claire died in April 2010, and this documentary explores her story, and her struggle with stigma and discrimination through the health care system when dealing with substance dependence and mental illness.
It’s important to highlight that Wild Butterfly addresses challenging and confronting themes such as child sexual abuse, graphic sexual assault scenes, mental illness and substance use, which may be triggering for some viewers.
